Reaching its pinnacle, the premiere episode of the season showcased a grand clash at the Elven ruin of Shaerrawedd.In this epic encounter, Henry Cavill’s Geralt found himself fighting side by side with Ciri, fiercely protecting her from a multitude of enemies who seek to abduct or eliminate her, each driven by their own motivations. Needless to say, the scene was pretty intricate and delicate to make. The task of shooting it in a single take added an additional layer of challenge, as even the slightest mistake had the potential to cause setbacks and disrupt the entire production process.

During the shooting process, Henry Cavill revealed that they dedicated around 35 takes to achieve perfection, alongside over 90 practice sessions. Their relentless pursuit was aimed at ensuring every aspect of the scene appeared flawlessly executed and effortlessly portrayed on the screen, and it was all worth it at the end of the day. Cavill said,“The beauty of a one-take is that it can allow the audience members to feel truly involved in the dance of death that is happening.–It’s like composing a symphony”

He then elaborated on how ample trust among the cast was absolutely essential during this scene in particular, just to synchronize their energies and movements seamlessly, resulting in a harmonious performance. Henry Cavill Was Also the Second Stunt Coordinator for This Season

In addition to deliberately not using a stunt double and personally performing all of his fight scenes on his own, Henry Cavill was also heavily involved behind the scenes in crafting such intricate pieces as well. Stegemann praised his presence and active involvement in every stage of the process, consistently offering his valuable input whenever he deemed it necessary, which according to Stegemann was very helpful for the team as well. He said,“What many people don’t know, they think the stunt team comes together and we start choreographing something and show it to him. It’s not like that. He’s, from the beginning, there and giving all his input.”

He then also further elaborated,
 “It’s not just having a fight, it’s how we shoot this fight. Henry and I basically sit together on the monitor and we hold the cameras and go through the fight to find the right angles, the right movements. And, yeah, it’s incredible.”Thus, one can say, he was so good at his job that he was practically promoted to assist the great Wolfgang Stegemann.The first part of The Witcher Season 3 is already out while the second volume will follow on July 27 on Netflix.
