What Happens in Time of Contempt?

In the second book of The Witcher saga, Yennefer, Ciri, and Geralt are reunited. But a coup takes place, and this causes the three of them to separate again.Time of Contempt begins where Blood of Elves left off. Ciri and Yennefer journey together, with Yennefer intending to enroll Ciri at Aretuza so that she could master her magic. They’re also being tracked by the well-known assassin Ralf Blunden/The Professor (a possible villain for The Witcher Season 3).

Ciri refuses to be “imprisoned” at school, so she steals a horse and looks for Geralt. Yennefer goes after her, which leads to a reunion of the three. The Ending of The Witcher Season 2

The Witcher Season 2 explored Ciri’s powers and her Elder blood. In the final episode of Season 2, Voleth Meir, also known as "the Deathless Mother" (a character not in the books) possessed Ciri and compelled her to kill the Witchers.While initially, Yennefer wanted to trade Ciri to get her powers back, she ultimately chose to sacrifice herself by offering herself as a vessel to Voleth Meir so that Ciri could be free of the demon.Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri are then briefly transported to another dimension, where they see the Wild Hunt. They take an interest in Ciri as she is a Child of the Elder Blood.

However, Ciri faces more threats apart from the Wild Hunt. The Kings and Queens of the North, along with Tissaia, agree on a bounty on Ciri’s head. The elves also take an interest in Ciri due to her Elder Blood, as Francesca considers Ciri as the elves’ only hope to rebuild their society.It was also revealed that Ciri’s own father, Duny, is Emhyr var Emreis, the White Flame and Emperor of Nilfgaard.And at the end of Season 2, Geralt says that he, Yennefer, and Ciri should help each other and that what is destined cannot be avoided. But while Geralt still needs Yennfer to train Ciri, he says that he would never forgive her for putting Ciri’s life in danger.
